I just saw a banner ad on our site for one of those fake news sites advertising about those fake work at home (scams) right here on Proboards! The same kind I have been talking about on this other thread about these fake job scams!:

So I went to register and complain on the Proboards support forums but through reading another member's complaint about these it seems they only remove them if reported and even then ONLY if it is against their policy which seems pretty slack and scams are not against their policy sadly:

Ads which automatically play audio
Ads that automatically expand to larger than their normal size
Any and all popup ads
Ads which attempt to install software/malware on your computer

So I decided this was worthy to post in the scam section because I don't know if this can be reported or not..

The way to report is to click Ctrl+Alt+R
(but one member there said that it is actually
sometimes Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R depending on the browser??)

I realized I should shade out locations like they did (don't know why .. I mean .. how many live in my city? haha .. but there must be a reason) and I also saw that this banner ad has been circulating Proboards for a few months all linking to similar sites:

Anyway so I reported the ad and hopefully it will be removed. There have been many like this and I wish there was a way to just have a certain topic of banner ads.

You can see the warning is exactly as I did infact put it on all my pages. You can see that I did that in the attached image. So now I am taking it down even though I worry about people falling for the fake job scams and the other scams I have seen advertised that are NOT against Proboard's policy sadly.

I have changed what it says to this and hopefully this will be okay with them:

I checked the Terms of Service and the only relevant thing I could find was this:

(d) while, using the Website and Services, use "ad blocking" software or similar built-in web browser options designed to hide, block or prevent the proper display of online advertising;
(e) modify or change the placement and location of any advertisement appearing on the Website;

Which nothing was said about discouraging people from clicking. After all, I did not hide it. It was in plain view! I just didn't want to be personally held accountable for members clicking on any ads and being misled and then blaming me!

I never have once said to not click them as I do understand that Proboards needs them for this reason:

Proboards isn't the only reputable site that uses the banner services of fraud enabling advertisement services.

I took a look at the source code and found the proof that it does in fact ALWAYS change the date for the offer to say it ALWAYS expires TOMORROW:

So what happens if we block Javascript (the code that makes the date go one day ahead) where it says the offer expires in one day?

This happens:

It simply does not show up as the date isn't real but a script! A code in the page to trick you!
