I got a message forwarded to me a couple years ago on Facebook but since I am not on there hardly ever I did not realize until recently.
I had ignored it earlier stating to the sharer that it was a scam and they said that their account just sent it but they did not think their account was hacked. Anyway that was back in 2019 but looking at it now I thought I should post about it as many DO fall for scams that say Facebook (or other social media) will start charging for this or that that is currently free. Here is the scam as it was forwarded:
Scammers tend to want you to share with as many people as possible as it just does their work for them. When you share scams you are essentially making it easier for the scammer to reach more people. That gives them more chances for a victim to see it and fall for the scam. Never share these scams but delete them right away. If your account has shared it and you did not do it yourself, chances are that someone got into your account and it would be a good idea to change your login information as well as clear out your browser's cookies. Remember to ALWAYS log OUT of FACEBOOK or any other Social Media if more than one person uses that computer you logged in on or you are using a public computer (library, school, social club or activities club, etc).
Also Facebook or any other Social Media will never charge you per message. It is not the same as texting to another country on a mobile phone which is dependent on what ever plan you paid for.
