While I was working on my mother's PC this popped up in her browser. This would have scared her as it said Trojan found, and computer locked and that she had to call Tech Support. So she did not get freaked out I didn't show her. If she ran across anything like this on her own she would get up from the computer, not touch anything and call me instantly anyway. So no need to freak her out over this as her computer was clean and it was just a pop up in her browser window. I did not investigate which page triggered the pop up (I suspect a link in search as I was looking for information on the upcoming elections for her) and she can be a very distracting person while she watches TV when I am on the computer as she loves to talk about everything she sees. So I just blocked the site which closed that page without having to deal with the typical "are you sure you want to leave before taking care of this" exit pop up and sent a screenshot of it to myself to post later here. This is exactly what she saw (not edited): (Click to enlarge in a new tab or window or view here: i.imgur.com/qR45y2Z.jpg) THIS is a SCAM! Do NOT call that number if you see something like this and no your computer is NOT locked.
It is just a scripted webpage to look like an anti-virus alert ⚠
