These are things that I feel are important to have activated in all forums. Some admins do not look at their options but assume that everything is activated when by default it might not be. Some have to do some searching to get new plugins or modifications to add to their forums for better security. Here is my list of the basics all forums should have: - No guest posting.
- No links or images for new members with post counts less than 5.
- Captcha or ReCaptch image security
- No visible email to guests or better yet even to members. Only to admins. If other members want to share their email they can do it in PM (Private Messaging).
- Check new members against blacklists (some forums have this as an option but is unchecked by default).
- Extra security question to try to make less spam bots target the forums.
- And active admin and active Moderators at least once a day every day.
- No guests able to see profiles of any members.
- Certain words already censored out that spammers might like to post such as Cialis.
If you can think of more, please tell me.
